Not sure where you're getting that he supplied anyone with alcohol.

Sounds like some drunken teenagers. I hope he didn't actually push any female down

Re: 2018 NFL off season-ish

From the Star article:

"According to one police report, Ottinger and a friend, who said they were Kent State students, were traveling on a party bus between Cleveland bars with Hunt and his friend and others.

Ottinger and her friend went back to Hunt’s apartment, and Hunt’s friend told police that he kicked the girls out of the apartment when he learned they were 19. Ottinger said they were kicked out because she “didn’t want” one of the men in the group. Ottinger didn’t specify which person she was referring to."

It's a shitty situation, and sounds like the woman got too drunk and crazy, but you don't put yourself in those positions. You call hotel security or the cops and let them deal with that shit.

Re: 2018 NFL off season-ish

He'll probably get a fine. No charges filed, racial slurs seemed to be involved as well from what I saw. Bad situation all around. There's a Chiefs fan/writer for Arrowhead Pride I follow on twitter, Seth Keysor, who is also an attorney. Says he hated getting cases like that as a prosecutor. He says a lot of "he said, she said"

From Cleveland.com online story about it.

Hunt's friend told police they kicked the women out of the apartment when they learned both were 19 years old, but Ottinger said that they were kicked out because she "didn't want" one of the men in the group, the report says.

Hunt's friend said that Ottinger called him and Hunt racial slurs when they were told that they needed to leave, the report says.

The two women then waited in the hallway as they tried to arrange a ride back to Kent State, the report says. Hunt's friend said he gave them $20 for a ride, and that Hunt went to bed, the report says.

Ottinger's friend said she tried to tell Ottinger that they should leave, but Ottinger "really wanted to stay" and became "very dramatic" and "very upbeat" once they were kicked out, the report says.

Hunt's friend said the women stayed out in the hallway for about 30 minutes as Ottinger continued to yell and pound on the apartment door, the report says.

Another woman who was with Hunt's group of friends told police that Ottinger hit her in the face when she went into the hallway in an attempt to get the pair to leave, the report says.

Ottinger, however, said that Hunt came out of the apartment and "shoved and pushed her," causing abrasions on her knee and hand, and a scratch to her chest, the report says.

Ottinger's friend told police that "all the boys" began "chasing" Ottinger, the report says.

The friend said she pulled out her phone to record the chase, but Hunt's friend took her phone, so she "went after him," the report says. The woman said someone grabbed her and she fell to the floor, but that she didn't know who grabbed her, the report says. Hunt's friend said he took the Ottinger's phone and threw it away from her, but didn't know how her friend's phone became damaged, the report says.

When Hunt spoke to Cleveland police, he said he asked the women to leave and told his friend that the pair could not stay. Hunt said he went to bed, and later told someone to call security when he could still hear the women out in the hallway, the report says.

Hotel security escorted the women downstairs and asked Cleveland police for help in handling the complaint, the reports say. Ottinger also called police, reports say.

Dispatch logs say she was "very anxious" for officers to arrive, but also "uncooperative."

And as most of us already predicted DJ was released today. Will test the FA market.

Great career as a Chief.
Tough that he lost time with injuries.

Re: 2018 NFL off season-ish

Tough that he had his worst injury during the time when the Chiefs had maybe (?) their best shot at a Super Bowl.

All time great Chief. Will go in the Ring of Honor.

I wonder where he will end up?

We really coulda used him v Leveon Bell.

Re: 2018 NFL off season-ish

All-Time great Chief. The majority of his 13 years included being the best defender in a Chiefs jersey. 2x All Pro, 4 time Pro Bowler.

Heart and soul of the franchise. Tore his Achilles tendon twice. And never missed the following season.

But he also got burned on an easy route to defend against a slow Antonio Gates in the game this past December at Arrowhead. Father time had gotten him. Could re-sign with team, but likely not as Veach wants the team to get younger.

Yeah if he didn't tear his Achilles in December against Oakland last year, they would have probably won that game against Pittsburgh in the playoffs. Bell wouldn't do that much dancing and being patient if DJ was in there.

Re: 2018 NFL off season-ish

DJ was playing the best football of his career before that injury against Oakland. Thus goes the curse of the Chiefs franchise.

I wonder if Veach sat down DJ and told him we are going to release you or I can make you an offer but it may offend you and let him choose. My guess is that Chiefs didn't even offer DJ because it would have been so much less money and reduced playing time.

This move certainly sounds / feels much better than JC25.

Chiefs are not interested in DJ.  Maybe a one game retirement in pre-season.

Re: 2018 NFL off season-ish

Sounds like they straight up told DJ that he wasn't in their plans. That sucks. But at least they didn't mess around and DJ will have plenty of opportunity to find a spot with another team.

By keeping Sutton as the DC, you're basically saying that the defense is a personnel problem and not a coaching problem. So a complete overhaul is likely. And I can understand Veach wanting to fully shift the defensive side to get younger and to fit his plans moving forward. For these big changes to the roster, the time is now.

Happy trails, DJ. I'm sure he'll get a couple more years with a team that will be happy to have him.

Personnel was a big problem this year. DL was blah, Ford and Hali weren't anything to brag about at OLB as they were hurt or inactive. DJ is old. Berry tore his Achilles. Sorensen and Parker can't be your 2 guys in the very back of the defense. And then obviously Revis at CB was very average at best.

I just named 7 out of the 11 guys on defense that really didn't produce whether it was due to talent or injuries. The only consistent guys were Jones, Houston and Peters. Everyone else sucked because they were asked to do more than what they can do at the moment.

Re: 2018 NFL off season-ish

I am seeing all over social media that DJ would have taken 'way' less to stay with KC. Money wasn't going to be the only issue here. Playing time was equally as important. If he would have stayed in KC I would assume his role would have been like Tamba. Spot playing time and lots of DNP-CDs.

I know he says he wants to play but the tape from last year doesn't lie. He isn't the same player anymore. Any more years would have tarnished his career with KC. Better to have a clean break and let him pursue other opportunities. Come back, sign an honorary contract and let him retire as Chief.

Overall, I'm really liking what Brett Veach is doing. He is making moves and not sitting on his hands. He seems very clear and confident on his vision for the direction of this team.

He's not waiting. We all thought it would be during the draft when Smith got traded, happened in January. And DJ would be cut around the draft as well, but it happened yesterday.

He doesn't wait at all. He's a young guy with no fear that has a nose for talent. He is the guy that pounded the table for Reid to get Shady McCoy in Philly and was the first voice for Mahomes to get on the radar for Reid and Dorsey.
